At Lightblue, we believe that impactful change starts in the heart of the kitchen. We are proud to announce that Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort has officially joined our global network of sustainability-forward properties, implementing the FIT Food Waste Monitoring Tech to transform how they manage food resources.
This partnership follows the sustainability policies of Marriott International and Le Méridien Phuket, which aim to reduce all types of waste by at least 5% annually compared to previous years while fostering a deeper culture of environmental responsibility.

Establishing a Foundation in the Staff Canteen
The journey toward a more sustainable operation begins where the team gathers. Le Méridien Phuket has chosen to launch the program within their Staff Kitchen and Canteen, ensuring that environmental values are lived and breathed by the associates first.
To set the foundation for future success, we have established a focused setup:
- One Strategic Recording Point: A dedicated FIT station designed to log data seamlessly without slowing down the kitchen's rhythm.
- Focused Monitoring: Capturing the flow of ingredients and meals within the staff canteen to build a clear picture of production versus consumption.

A People-First Implementation Strategy
A technology solution is only as strong as the team behind it. Recently, our consultants were on-site to lead an intensive, hands-on training session for 20 key team members. This cross-functional group, including chefs, stewards, and HR leaders, learned how to move beyond manual tracking and use real-time data to drive change.
The program is being driven by a dedicated leadership team:
- Chef Valit Jitboonchuen (Sous Chef and Kitchen Lead) is heading the culinary implementation, ensuring the system remains practical and kitchen-friendly.
- Sukree Photisarach (Hygiene & Quality Manager) oversees the accuracy and safety standards of the data collection.
- The Human Resources team, led by Susiri Mingwan, Supintip Nuanprakob, and Bunjira Somkhiawwan, is spearheading the project to ensure environmental awareness becomes a core part of the resort's workplace culture.
Turning Sustainability into a Daily Habit
For Le Méridien Phuket, this initiative is about more than just software; it is about raising awareness. By tracking every gram of food waste in the staff kitchen, the resort is gaining the visibility needed to make smarter, data-led decisions in the months to come.
This approach empowers every team member to see the tangible impact of their actions. As the team adopts these new habits, they are setting a benchmark for sustainable hospitality that bridges the gap between corporate policy and daily kitchen operations.
Looking Ahead: From Data to Actionable Insight
While we are in the early stages of this journey, the focus today is on establishing a robust baseline. The data collected at this initial recording point will allow the resort to identify patterns, optimize production, and align their food management with their 5% waste reduction goal.
We welcome Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort to the Lightblue family and are ready to support them as they turn their sustainability intentions into a measurable impact.
